Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of the football scholarship of his family as well as service to his community. First, the Selmon family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children on a Eufala farm. Also, he was one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the country by Outland and Lombardi Awards. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. The team also took home the national title twice. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him a Scholar-Athlete for the third time in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in Education. Fourth service In the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. Following graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa and spent the next nine years playing with the Buccaneers. Three times, he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relations Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's top 10 young men. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch larger and weighing more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as an athlete, was captain of his team during the season of 1975. In 1993, he became the assistant director of the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by in the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
