April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is among the few female players of beach volleyball that have done so. Alix klineman, who is taking part for the very first time at the Tokyo Olympics, will try to earn her third medal. Ross also hopes to get her very first Olympic medal. At 39, it could be her final chance to accomplish this. The athlete is optimistic she can achieve top honors. Ross was reported on NBC Boston as saying that if you play your highest, and even do well, we'll get the gold. Then I will also take some chance. Ross was born in California, Costa Mesa in 1982. Her parents and her sister were residents there. In Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous different sports. She played basketball and ran the track as well as her volleyball skills in the indoors as a pre-collegiate athlete. She stood out however at this level. According to her bio her high school days, she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) and setter (outside blocker). For her efforts she was awarded in 1999 as the Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. She also was awarded her the Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross has been working with Klineman from 2017 but her beach game was well-established long before the year. It's true that she's won multiple big tournaments and one partner was a renowned volleyball player. In the period 2007 to 2013 she teamed with Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Together with Kessy Ross was a force in the world circuit, winning an international title in 2009. The duo eventually captured a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were defeated for the gold by the legendary duo comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor when she retired. Both went on to win the bronze beach volleyball medal in the Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. In high school and the years before she hit the sand professionally, Ross was a ball to the Trojans at USC while a collegiate. Ross's Trojans experience was remarkable. When she was a freshman in 2000 Her performance was rewarded with the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman-of-the-Year honors. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans reach their first Final Four. She endured a great personal loss in her sophomore, yet was able to achieve the All-American title. In her last two years, she took the Trojans up the mountain and took home consecutive national championships. She was a fantastic volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female college volleyball player. Ross majored in international relations at USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter reach the top in beach volleyball. Ross's mom died from cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. However, she continues to keep her mother's memory close and close. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration to her at and off the beaches.
